Right from the beginning, the new owners made many cross-country flights. For example in 1989, a total of 32 cross-country flights were made. In that year the team succeeded a 318 km triangle flight. Two more flights above 300 kilometres were flown in that same season. But this also included 16 outlandings. However that was not a record. In 1983, a bad weather year for gliding, 25 cross-country flights were made with 20 outlandings. On one occasion three in one
day.
The enthusiastic behaviour of the team inspired Jan van
Alfen. Due to the large number of outlandings he created the "Weiland Express."
The painting was removed some years later during an
overhaul.
